Vittorio Sgarbi
Graduated in philosophy, specialized in history of art, at University of Bologna. He is an italian art critic, politician, cultural commentator and Tv personality. He coodinates the most important art exhibitions in Italy. He was elected at the Italian Parliament in 1992 and 2001, and at the European Parliament in 1999. He was vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Councillor of Culture in the Milan Municipality. Since 2008 he has served as Mayor of Salemi (Trapani). Initially working in the artistic domain, he was appointed Inspector for the Maintainance of History and Art in Veneto. For three years he tought history of artistic technique at the University of Udine. In 2001, as vice minister, he protected the architectural heritage of the Port of Trieste. Today, he plays the role of Superintendent of the Venice Museums. He has published a lot of volumes of art history and art criticism, translated all over the world. Some public recognition for his work: member of Accademia Georgica Treia, Rubicon Academy Filopatridi, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Campano Museum of Capua and the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, member of the Commission for cultural activities in Cremona and Lecce, president of the commission for the arts and architectural restoration in Padova.
